SURYANAR KOIL is very authentic temple for Surya Pariharam and is very near to Kumbakonam. King Kulothunga Chola I in the year 1100 AD built this Temple. Lord Suriyan is the center of Navagraham Gods. The main calculation of "laganam" (ascendant) of a birth chart is derived from his position only. As per astrology he is the father of all children giving the effects of "Atma" of an individual. This is like gene in our body carrying information of our ancestors. This temple is dedicated to Sun God Surya who is known as the giver of health, success and prosperity. Every year in mid-January, the harvest festival is celebrated in thanksgiving and to honour Surya.
THINGALOOR Chandran Parihara Sthalam is located between Kumbakonam and Thiruvaiyaru in Tamil Nadu. The temple was built, before the seventh century A.D. Dedicated to the Moon or Chandran in Sanskrit and Thingal in Tamil. Lord Chandran is like our mother as per astrology as he only decides our body structure and mindset.
Visiting to this temple is said to grant a comfortable and long life, In astrology, Chandran is the planet that removes stress and sorrow because every person is identified as belonging to certain Nakshatram or rasi with respect to the position of Chandran in the sky only. Hence he is the important of all Navagraham because our mind is totally under his control.
VAITHESWARAN KOIL there is a special shrine dedicated to Ankarakan or Sevvai or Mars. The belief is that if prayers are offered to Ankarakan, he will bestow valour, victory and strength to the person. Upon entering the temple, devotees first go the Siddhamrita tank.It is Siddhamrutha Theertham, a big tank opposite to Ambal's shrine ,is known to have medicinal property. Devotees believe that taking bath in these waters cures them of their diseases, expecially skin diseases. The water is said to have curative properties for various skin ailments. Lord Shiva is considered to be the Vaidyanathar Divine Healer. His consort Thaiyalnaayaki is said to accompany him with a vessel containing medicinal oil. There is also a shrine dedicated to Dhanwantari here. There is also a widespread belief that a visit here would remove obstacles that delay marriage.
THIRUVENKADU is a reference to this temple in Valmiki's Ramayana. Therefore it is said that the oldest part of the temple is more than 3000 years old. Dedicated to Budhan or Mercury this temple in Thiruvenkadu makes up the last of the Navagraha Temples. Budhan is said to bestow wisdom and intellect. Thiruvenkadu is one of the six places considered to be equivalent to kasi. Its is situated 15 kms from vaitheeswaran koil on the sirkali- Poompuhar Road. Nearby Shivastalams include Keezhtirukkattuppalli, Tiruvalampuram, Tiruchaaikaadu, Pallavaneeswaram and Tirukkalikkaamur.
ALANGUDI . Sri Abathsaheyeswarar temple, the sthalam of Guru Bhagavan is at Alangudi. The presiding deity here is Abathsahayeswarar and his consort is Elavarkuzhali Ammai or Umayammai. The Shiva Lingam here is a Swayambhu (self manifested). This is regarded as a 'Gurustalam' where Dakshinamurthy is held in great reverence, attracting huge crowds when Jupiter transits between zodiac signs. Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva, is said to have been reborn on the banks of the Amrita Pushkarini within the temple precincts before being reunited with Shiva Dakshinamurthy is the praharam (circumambulatory path) around Shiva's shrine is worshipped as Guru Bhagavan Here. The festival image here is that of Dakshinamurthy. The period of Vikrama Chola (1131), referring to Alankudi as Jananatha saruppedimangalam, and to the Chidambaram Natarajar temple, are seen here.
KANCHANOOR is Shiva sthalam associated with Sukran or Venus and is maintained by the Madurai Adhinam. This It is located in a quiet hamlet of Thiruvaavaduturai. At this Shiva temple Agneeswarar is the presiding deity and his consort if karpagambal. Agni is said to have worshipped Lord shiva here and hence the name Agneeswarar. Sukracharyar was imparted the knowledge of Amirtha sanjeevini Mantra by Lord Shiva, this mantra can bring the dead back of life. This shrine is also referred to as Palaasavanam, Brahmapurai and Agnisthalam. Brahma is said to have had a vision here of Shiva's wedding with Parvati. Men visit to pray for the well being of their wives.
THIRUNALLAR Dharbharanyeswaraswamy or dharbaranyeswarar temple at thirunallar is dedicated to Lord saneeswaran or Lord Sani or Saturn. Saneeswaran, it's a special navagraha's who's name having tag of eswaran. When the planet Saturn transits between zodiac signs, literally millions throng this shrine. The architectural features date back to the Chola period and inscriptions dating back to the twelfth century AD are found in the temple. The legendary King Nala is said to have been relieved of his afflictions, which were due to the malefic influence of Saturn, after worship in this temple. Of the numerous tanks theertams, the Nala theertam is the most important one. By bathing here, it is believed that one is washed off all kinds of misfortune and afflictions.
TIRUNAGESHWARAM Rahu Kovil vast temple known is for its shrine to Rahu, is the best place after "Kalahasthi" temple for Rahu Pariharam and is situated near Kumbakonam. Sri Rahu Bagavan is one of the nine celestial bodies in the Navagraham and Important. Rahu is snake God dreaded after Lord Shani-Eswaran by astrologers for his Famous influence called "Sarpa Dosham" that delays a person’s marriage and spoils fidelity. If He is well placed in Jathagam of the person then is spoken for his luck everywhere that make people go up to riches. A legend has it that the mythological serpents Adiseshan, Dakshan and Kaarkotakan worshipped Shiva here.
The Naganathar temple known as the Kethu Navagrahastalam is located in the hamlet of Keezhperumpallam in the vicinity of Tiruvenkaadu in Tamilnadu. KEEZHPERUMPALLAM This is an ancient Shaivite temple and legend has it that Kethu, the other planetary node of the nine celestial bodies worshipped Shiva here. Rahu and Kethu are associated with the legend of the serpent that helped Lord Shiva churn the milky ocean. Lord Kethu with his serpent head and human system is experiencing western on his Simha (lion) chair with folded arms worshipping Lord Shiva. He is the power for wiseness. He is a courageous planet doing all good for the devotees owed to his Rasi.
